Custom Tails and Gray Horse Trading at Midwest Horse Fair

by Heidi Hallberg, PleasureHorse.com

The Midwest Horse Fair® is one of the top 3-day horse fairs in America. Held in Madison, Wisconsin at the Alliant Energy Center, it has been growing and going strong since 1979. Over the long weekend, April 15-17, 2011 the Midwest Horse Fair® celebrated its 32nd annual event.  Though the weather was cold and rainy, the exhibitors, vendors and shoppers were smiling!

Every year the Midwest Horse Fair® gets bigger & better, and 2011 was no different!  Every performance is a unique experience as exhibitors incorporate this theme into their demonstrations.

PleasureHorse sponsors Custom Tails and Gray Horse Trading Company, who both had vendor booths at the event, said the weekend was good for business!

Barb Delf, owner of Custom Tails, had this to say: “We had a very good show.  The other vendors I talked to, both in Madison and at Equine Affaire in Ohio the week before,  agreed that people seem to be a little more comfortable spending money on their horses again, after a couple of conservative years.”  She continued, “I’m always happy with business wherever we go, so along with the Midwest Horse Fair, the Quarter Horse Congress, Big A Quarter Horse Show in Conyers, GA, Corporate Challenge Quarter Horse Show in St. Paul, Minnesota, the Reichert Celebration, Equine Affaire in Ohio, the Region Three Championship Show in St. Paul, and The Quarter Horse World Championship Show are my favorites.  It’s always wonderful to  see old customers, meet new people, and  to put faces to the names on our phone and on-line orders!”  Custom Tails is one of the leading manufacturers of tail extensions for horses on the market today, and they have been providing their customers with the highest quality products and customer service since 1999.

Gray Horse Trading, owned by Jan Lukas, also had a good run this past weekend.  “People save their money all year to attend this show, and they are ready to make purchases!” said Jan.  Gray Horse Trading Company offers women’s and girl’s western wear and show clothes, handbags, wallets and briefcases.  They also have books, dinnerwear and calendars.

The Most Beautiful Horse Contest

Whether you are a horseless horse lover, new horse owner, or seasoned professional, there is always something to enjoy at the Midwest Horse Fair®.  Non-horse owners, families and children can meet the horses up close by touring the eight different barns. To help make future breeding decisions, mare owners have the opportunity to view stallions of all different breeds from around the Midwest in Stallion Avenue.  Many different breeds of horses are represented during the breed demonstrations in the Coliseum.  Hundreds of clinics, seminars and educational events are presented by some of the top horse professionals from around the country.  Over 500 vendor booths offer shopping opportunities with something for everyone.  Enjoy the “mane” event feature presentation focusing on the magnificent horse.

The Midwest Horse Fair® is owned by the Wisconsin Horse Council, Inc. All proceeds from the Fair are returned to the WHC and are used to represent and foster a unified equine industry in Wisconsin, promote the equine through leadership, education, service and communication, and to take a proactive role in the future growth and development of the equine industry.
