Courtney Sturgill Named 2011 Congress Queen

2011 Congress Queen Courtney Sturgill

At the conclusion of a beautiful coronation ceremony Sunday, October 23 at the All American Quarter Horse Congress, Courtney Sturgill, sponsored by  the Virginia Quarter Horse Association, was named the 2011 Congress Queen.  Ms. Sturgill placed first in the oral examination, second in the written exam and third in horsemanship.  First runner up was Alyssa Freeman of the Illinois Quarter Horse Association, and Cecilia Purtee, sponsored by the Ohio Quarter Horse Racing Association, was named second runner up.  Page Potter, of the North Carolina Quarter Horse Association, was awarded “Miss Congeniality.”

Courtney will have a busy year ahead of her, fulfilling the role of 2011 Congress Queen.  2010 Queen Brittany Barker said a tearful farewell at the start of the ceremony, thanking many people, but especially her mother for the wonderful role model she has provided.

Many congratulations to 2011 Congress Queen Courtney Sturgill and all of the Congress Queen candidates!
