Big things are on the horizon for young horsemen, thanks to several events hosted by AQHYA. Visit www.aqha.com/yes to learn more.

The American Quarter Horse Youth Association is inviting young horsemen from around the world to help shape the future of the equine industry. The 2014 Bank of America Youth Excellence Seminar, July 7-9 in Bryan-College Station, Texas, welcomes AQHYA members, ages 10 to 18. This fun-filled event offers valuable leadership skills, inspiring speakers and tons of fun.

All AQHYA officer and director positions will be contested during the Youth Excellence Seminar. And for the first time, three positions are open for AQHYA members from international affiliates to become AQHYA directors this year.

All YES attendees will have the chance to participate in an equine forum on July 9. Also invited to the forum are youth officers from associations and organizations representing a wide range of equine breeds and disciplines.

“The animals we support may look different, have different gaits or come in a variety of sizes, but our issues as an entire horse industry are not so varied,” says Robin Alden, AQHA manager of youth development and AQHYA.

In addition, AQHYA has invited the national officers of all equine associations to stay for a one-day youth leadership summit following YES. The youth leadership summit starts at 8 a.m. on July 10 at the Best Western Premier Old Town Center in Bryan, Texas. The youth leadership summit will include guest speakers, breakout sessions and much more.

The youth leadership summit, the first of its kind, will focus on public policy, animal health and community service topics that will ultimately benefit our beloved horse.

YES and the youth leadership summit are just a few of the big things happening in July in Bryan-College Station. International AQHYA members will flock to Bryan-College Station July 3-13 for the 2014 American Quarter Horse Youth World Cup. Offered every other year, the Youth World Cup is both a competition and leadership experience for AQHYA members from around the globe.
