2014 American Shetland Pony Historic National Congress Anything But Small

logo12Morton, IL — More than 540 of the best and brightest small equine competitors from across the World competed at the 2014 American Shetland Pony Historical National Congress show.  This prestigious event was held at the Iowa State Fair Grounds in Des Moines, IA.

 Shetland Ponies competed for cash and prizes in classes such as halter, driving, jumping, obstacle and more.  There were special offerings for youth and amateur exhibitors in addition to breeders’ classes and open competition.  With over 540 ponies accounting for more than 1,300 entries in 400-plus classes, the 2014 ASPC National Congress was one of the largest held.
 
“We had a fantastic National Congress again this year,” said ASPC/AMHR President, Pat Sanders.  “We’re proud of the outstanding coverage the show received in the local community.” 
 
Prizes were abundant for the 2014 winners.  Competitors won premiums via class paybacks, incentives, jackpots and breeders’ futurities.  Over 700 rubber ponies were tossed into the arena during the first annual Flying Pony Contest.  The contest will benefit the ASPC Youth Team.
 
Des Moines, Iowa will again be the destination for the 2015 Annual American Shetland Pony Congress.
