For the first time, the Paint Barrel Racing Incentive Program will give its participants a chance to showcase their up-and-coming barrel racing prospects on the world stage, as part of the inaugural PBRIP 4- & 5-Year-Old Barrel Racing Futurity at the 2014 APHA World Championship Show in Fort Worth, Texas.

Scheduled for November 9, the PBRIP 4- & 5-Year-Old Futurity includes two separate classes: one for Regular Registry horses and one for Solid Paint-Breds. Each futurity’s purse will feature $1,250 added, in addition to all entry fees (excluding office charge), partial payments and penalty payments. A 4-D format will be used for payout, and check will be made payable to the exhibitor.

Horses entered in these two futurities may not have competed for money, prizes or points prior to December 1, 2013. Exhibitors must be enrolled in PBRIP and be a current APHA member; PBRIP enrollment will be accepted at the show until 5 p.m. the day before the classes.

Also on the APHA World Show schedule are:

  • PBRIP Barrel Racing Sweepstakes, November 9
  • NEW Breeders’ Futurity Gold/Silver/Bronze 4-Year-Old Barrel Racing classes, November 8
  • World championship classes for barrel racing, pole bending and stake race (Amateur, Novice Amateur, Open, and Amateur & Open Solid Paint-Bred divisions), November 8 and 9
