Negligence Claims Dismissed in A Good Machine’s Passing

Press Release

AGMA Grayson County, Texas District Court has issued a Notice of Judgment in favor of stallion manager Rick McDonald and McEquine Enterprise, LLC dismissing  claims of negligence brought regarding the death of famous Western Pleasure stallion A Good Machine.  Attorney for McDonald, Amy Ganci, stated “it was a terrible and difficult thing for the McDonalds to be wrongly blamed in the death of A Good Machine who was humanely euthanized after succumbing to degenerative myelopathy which caused paralysis in his hind limbs.  Rick and his wife had been involved with the stallion since he was three years old and owned by John and Kim Dean, and “Mac” as he was affectionately known, was very, very dear to them.  I am hopeful now that the early, incorrect rumors that Mac died after an accident can be put to rest once and for all – the necropsy report from Texas A & M is simply irrefutable.”

The McDonalds wish to thank everyone who stood beside them during this difficult experience.  The McDonalds extend a special thanks to Dr. John McCarroll and Dr. Chrystal Sousa and their staff at Equine Medical Associates for attending Mac in his time of need; and Kevin and Amy Ganci of Ganci, LLP for bringing this negligence matter to a close.

The McDonald’s and their McEquine Enterprises, LLC manage the breeding of more than a dozen top Quarter Horse stallions, including Only In The Moonlite, Huntin For Chocolate, Certain Potential, and Good Machinery, among others.

We are so glad that this is finally over and glad the District Court got right. Rick & Kim McDonald would not and could not ever harm or neglect any animal. We will stand behind them 150%. This suit should never have been filed. We consider them friends and family and will continue to include them in happy outings and do business with McEquine and encourage everyone else to do the same.
