New and Veteran Teams Top Monday’s APHA/NSBA World Champions

We found new teams and experienced show teams among Monday’s APHA and NSBA winners at the 2014 APHA World Championship Show at the Will Rogers Equestrian Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Monday’s classes included Western Riding, Trail, Hunter Under Saddle and Western Pleasure events.

Three sets of winners were named Monday in the Three Year Old Open Western Pleasure. The class was approved as an NSBA Stallion Incentive Fund class as well as the Southern Belle Breeders in addition to naming APHA and NSBA champions.

Talk About Lazy and Scott Suggs won the Stallion Incentive Fund portion of the class and $930 for owner Cynthia Figueroa. The pair earned sixth overall in the APHA and NSBA portion of the class. Talk About Lazy is by Lazy Loper. Taking second in the SIF division was The Secret Code and Amanda Wass, showing for Janice Foster, earning $620.

Taking the APHA and NSBA world champion title in the Three Year Old Open Western Pleasure was Sensational Design and Wade Parks (shown at left), showing for owners Melvin and Pamela Mousley. The mare, called Minnie, is by Sensational Zippo and out of Kiss Me Cuervo.

“She’s just such an exceptional mare,” Parks said. “I love her to death. She lopes great, she jogs great, she has great feel. She’s so natural. I just try to stay out of her way.”

Minnie has a winning history that includes being a champion at the Reichert Celebration as a two year old. She is currently leading the nation in Masters Junior Western Pleasure. “Not only do we have a great horse, but her owners are just the coolest people,” Parks said.

Minnie still has a busy show schedule ahead at the 2014 APHA World Championship Show. “We’ve still got Green Western Pleasure and the Masters Amateur Junior Western Pleasure,” Parks said.

After winning the Two Year Old Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle Sweepstakes and an $800 pay check, Cindy Snapp won’t be saying ‘good riddance’ to her ride, Good Riddance, anytime soon. “He’s just easy,” Snapp said. “I would call him brave. He does whatever you ask him to do and he really wants to please you.” Cindy and Tim Snapp and Good Riddance are shown at right.
