2015 NRHA Derby and 2015 NRHA Futurity Condition Updates

Oklahoma City, Okla., February 12, 2015 –The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) is making plans now for the 2015 NRHA Derby that will be held June 20 – 27 at the Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City. Thousands of spectators, exhibitors and horses attend the event each year with their eye on the most talented and beautiful reining horses in the world, plus approximately $1 million in cash, prizes and nominator incentives awarded there.  Updated Derby Conditions for 2015 as well as a schedule are available now at nrhaderby.com.
 
As a reminder, the first payment of $910 for Open entries must be postmarked by March 1 to avoid late fees.  This first payment includes half the entry fee plus the judges fee. The Non Pro entries must be paid in full and postmarked by May 1 to avoid any late fees.  Owners of derby-aged horses are strongly encouraged to get their entries in by these deadlines to be involved in this premier event! Improvements to this year’s event include:

  • Reduced cost to transfer from the Non Pro to the Open Derby after the first go-round
  • Adding a Prime Time Open division for levels 1-3
  • Increasing added money to the Prime Time Non Pro division
  • Adding a concurrent Youth Non Pro final, as well as increasing added money to the division

In addition to world class reining competition, the NRHA Derby plays host to both the NRHA General Membership Meeting and the NRHA’s Annual Awards Banquet &Hall of Fame Inductions. The Banquet is scheduled for June 20, and the Annual General Membership Meeting will be at 2 p.m. on June 21 in the Sale Arena at Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City. 
 
All horses must be nominated to compete in the NRHA Derby. Owners still have a chance to do so; see the Nomination Conditions for complete details.

2015 NRHA Futurity Update: Conditions for the 2015 NRHA Futurity have recently been updated and approved by NRHA’s Board of Directors and are now ready for download at nrhafuturity.com.  Exhibitors planning to attend this pinnacle event to vie for an estimated total cash purse and prizes of more than $2 million must send the second of five payments to NRHA with a postmarked date no later than April 1, 2015, to avoid late fees. The 2015 NRHA Futurity will take place November 27 – December 5, 2015, in Oklahoma City, Okla. 
 
Improvements to this year’s NRHA Futurity include:

  • Changing dropped entry stipulations
  • Reduced cost to transfer from the Open to the Non Pro Futurity after the first go-round
  • Adding a Prime Time Open division for levels 1-3
  • Adding a concurrent Youth Non Pro final
