Showing Breeders’ Trust-enrolled Paint Horses really paid off recently for two AjPHA members. Allie Aldrich and Julie Hill each received a $1,000 scholarship from APHA and Corporate Partner Farnam Horse Products. Additionally, the APHA regional club of their choice each receives $500, courtesy of Farnam.

All AjPHA members automatically receive an “entry” into the Farnam Breeders’ Trust Youth Scholarship Program every time they show a Breeders’ Trust-nominated Paint Horse in APHA Youth or Novice Youth classes during the yearlong eligibility period. The event collected entries between April 1, 2014, and March 31, 2015. Entries accumulate per judge, per class.

In its third year, APHA tallied 66,565 total entries for the scholarships. Per program rules, entries were divided into two groups: one for entries from Youth classes, and the other for entries from Novice Youth classes. One recipient from each group was chosen at random by computer to win a $1,000 Farnam scholarship; each winner then selected an APHA regional club to receive $500 from Farnam to help fund an outreach program to other local youth equine organizations.
