Paint Horse Championships a Hit in Canada

APHA’s new Paint Horse championship show series headed north to Canada for the inaugural Western Canadian Paint Horse Championship, which took place July 30–August 2 in Ponoka, Alberta, Canada.

The championships were held in conjunction with the Zone 10 Show; though Zone classes are available for any APHA exhibitor, the Paint Horse Championship classes are restricted to those residing within Zone 10, which consists of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Yukon and Northwest Territories. Additionally, horses and exhibitors could not have placed in the Top Five or Top 10 of the same discipline at the APHA or AjPHA World Championship Shows in the past three years. Zone 10 Committee President Ronni Nordal of Bulyea, Saskatchewan, Canada, reported from the show: 

This prestigious 6 judge show had a great turnout with more than 100 horses and more than 500 class entries. Results and pictures from the show can be found at www.zone10zoneorama.ca. Plans for the 2016 show are soon underway—it is no secret that we hope 2016 will be even bigger and better and we hope you will join us. There are a few highlights we want to share.

A huge part of the 2015 show’s success was the APHA Championship Classes. We were honored to have APHA Past President Mary Parrott at the show handing out the prestigious and beautiful buckles and medallions provided by APHA. What a great addition to the Show!
