APHA is heading to Germany this spring to conduct a European Judges Seminar, taking place April 5-10 in Grosswallstadt, Germany. A biennial event, the seminar is open to current judges, judge applicants and APHA members interested in learning more about judging.

The seminar is jointly organized by APHA, the American Quarter Horse Association, the Appaloosa Horse Club and the National Snaffle Bit Association, making this a unique educational opportunity in Europe. The first two-and-a-half days are reserved for current judges who are required to attend to re-certify. The next two-and-a-half days are open to interested members, current judges and required for all new judge applicants. A rulebook test is scheduled for judge applicants at the end of the fifth day. The final day is comprised of video judging and interviews, reserved for judge applicants.

A renown trio of judging experts will lead the educational sessions: APHA Director of Judges David Dellin, AQHA Senior Director of Judges and Stewards Alex Ross and equine judging professional Joe Carter.

The deadline to submit an application to become a European judge is February 15. Additional information about becoming a judge, the application and the seminar registration form can be found on apha.com.

The event will take place at the Business-Sporthotel in Grosswallstadt, about 55 km east of the Frankfurt airport. Room reservations can be made online at www.business-sporthotel.com.
