FPHC Memorial Day Mane Event Wrap-up

Memorial Day Mane Event Wrap-UpThere was no shortage of fun events over Memorial Day weekend and the Florida Paint Horse Club’s Memorial Day Mane Event in Tampa, Florida was no exception.  A joint show with Florida Pinto Horse Association, the show offered a 3-day, 4 judge show May 27-29, and a double-judged Youth/Amateur APHA show on Monday.  Now, for the rundown.

Big Winners

There was no shortage of awards to go around, but several people found themselves heading home with coveted Yeti coolers as overall High Point winners.  For that, we congratulate:

  • Walk trot division – Marjie Wenger
  • Novice division – Lillian Ann Woodruff / Brian Isbell
  • Youth division – Lila Owens
  • Amateur division – Nadine Miller
  • Open Division – Linda Lewis

Have a cold one for us.

Memorial Day Mane Event Wrap UpGreat Swag

There were lots of goodies up for grab in addition to Yeti coolers.  Placings had their pick of towels, cones, koozies, and cups.  Pinto high points offered saddle bags and embroidered bags.  Random placings also had a chance to nab $25 gift certificates to dac Vitamins and Minerals.

Feed Me

Horse show people are notorious for loving free food and who can blame them?  Showing is expensive enough without adding in the cost of food, and half the time, who has a spare moment to grab something to eat?  Saturday night offered pizza options and Sunday held a sponsored barbecue dinner for hungry exhibitors.  To get people up and running in the mornings, sponsors provided continental breakfasts for the most important meal of the day.

Memorial Day Mane EventWe Could Have Done Without…

Typical Florida summertime weather.  Storms rolled in both Saturday and Sunday afternoons, complete with arena-shaking thunder and torrential downpours.  Of course, in typical summer storm fashion, they blew over nearly as fast as they blew in and the sun was back out.  Cue the humidity.

A Pleasant Surprise

Diane Taylor found herself going home with one more saddle than she came with.  At her very first APHA show, she was named the winner of the Bob Falvey Round Pen Raffle Saddle that was raffled off this weekend.  Something tells us she was happy to make room in her trailer.

Candids…lots of them.

We were onsite to snap some shots of the fun you missed and the memories made.
