February 9, 2014On February 8th and 9th of 2014, The University of Findlay hosted the third hunt seat Intercollegiate Horse Show Association event of the season.  Day one started out with a first place performance from Chelsie Stair and Haley Everhart of Lake Erie College in Open and Intermediate Fences. Lake Erie College continued to dominate in fences throughout the morning. As the flat classes began Kent State University and Bowling Green State University rode in at full force, taking first in many classes along with Lake Erie.

Although the competition was tough, Lake Erie competitors rode through the storm and won champion with 32 points. Kent State received reserve champion with 24 points. Day two of the show remained just as competitive as Lake Erie, Kent State, Bowling Green and The University of Findlay battled to stay on top. Throughout the day Lake Erie and Findlay fought back and forth for first place. However, Bowling Green kept up with the Storm and the Oilers and tied for first place with Lake Erie College with 30 points. According to the IHSA rule book, in the situation of a tie for champion the first place ribbon is awarded to the team with the most points over fences. Lake Erie College was awarded first with 16 points and Bowling Green received reserve with 8 points.

The weekend ended with Stair receiving High Point Rider on Saturday and Tatiana Eagles of Lake Erie College receiving High Point Rider on Sunday. Lake Erie College came ready to ride with determination as they reclaimed the title of High Point Team for the region. The last show of the season will be hosted at Lake Erie College on March 1st and 2nd. With Kent State and Bowling Green now in the running it will be interesting to see which team will bring their game faces, win the region and compete at zones.
