There must be something in the water in Purcell, Oklahoma that brings out champions. The city boasted the top three places in the Two Year Old Open Western Pleasure Futurity, a four-time Congress champion horse and the winner of the Junior Western Pleasure, just to name a few.

Aaron Moses continued his domination of the 2014 All American Quarter Horse Congress by winning the Two Year Old Open Western Pleasure Futurity aboard For One Night Only for Capital Quarter Horses LLC. The pair earned 414,628 for the win.

Taking reserve champion honors was his boss, Gil Galyean, who rode How Bout At Midnight for Fritz Leeman. Earning third place was Angie Rigdon Cannizzaro riding All About Mac for Kim and Brian Brandriet. All three riders hail from Purcell.

Moses spent most of the class showing off the rail. “He got a little nervous about the traffic at first, so I just showed him off the rail,” Moses said of his mount. “He showed really well, and I think the judges rewarded us for our degree of difficulty.”

For One Night Only swept all four two year old futurity classes by adding a championship in the Non-Pro Two Year Old Western Pleasure Stakes with Hillary Roberts in the saddle. The pair had earlier won the Limited division of the class, while trainer Aaron Moses won the Limited division of the Two Year Old Open Western Pleasure Futurity as well.

“Hillary did an awesome job showing him,” said Moses of the gelding by Invitation Only. “That’s saying a lot because it’s just the third time she’s ridden him. Not every horse and rider can hit the ground running like that, but that’s how he is. He’s pretty easy to ride.”
