Two young ladies earned NSBA bronze trophies in Hunter Under Saddle events at the 2015 IBHA World Championship Show on Friday, and they share a common connection. Allison Applegett piloted Dukes Review to win the NSBA title in Senior Hunter Under Saddle for owner Lydia Korikian, of Hilliard, Ohio, while Dakota Diamond Griffith rode her buckskin mare, Ima Riding Solo to win Junior Hunter Under Saddle. Applegett trains at Sid Griffith Equestrian Center in Hilliard, Ohio, while Dakota Diamond Griffith is Sid’s daughter and operates a training facility in Hilliard and Venice, Florida.

Applegett earned the first NSBA bronze of the day in Senior Hunter Under Saddle aboard Dukes Review, and placed second overall in the competitive class of 15 exhibitors. “We use Duke as a lesson horse at the barn,” she said. “He gave me a really good ride in the class today. He’s a really good trotter, and I think that’s what the judges liked about him.”

The 13 year old buckskin gelding is by APHA stallion Final Review and out of Clever Obsession (TB). “I’ve only owned him a few months,” said Lydia Korikian, who also showed Duke successfully in IBHA Youth Hunter Under Saddle 14-18.
