Reichert Celebration Yearling Sale

Williamsburg, Iowa, July 15, 2009 – The 11th Annual Reichert Celebration Yearling Sale will be held in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 14 and 15, 2009.

Brandi Herdon, Expo Center’s Agribusiness Coordinator, is excited for the return of the Celebration. “Expo Square and the Community of Tulsa are excited to host the 2009 Reichert Celebration for the fourth consecutive year. The Reichert Celebration is one of the largest equine events in the nation and we feel so honored and privileged to be a part of it. Expo Square has just completed its eight year construction project and is excited to introduce the new and improved Expo Square at the 2009 Reichert Celebration!”

Approximately 240 horses will sell in the 2009 Reichert Celebration Yearling Sale. Following the sale, each of these horses is eligible to participate in the $300,000 Reichert Sale Stakes Program-the most rewarding stakes program in the country.

The Reichert Sale Stakes Program allows each horse sold to return to the Reichert Celebration as a two- or three-year-old to participate in stakes classes that vary from Western Pleasure to Hunter Under Saddle to Trail. Additionally, two of the Premiere Signature Classes-the Sundowner Intermediate Two Year Old Western Pleasure and Non Pro Two Year Old Western Pleasure-are limited to horses sold through the previous year’s sale.

Videos of the sale horses will be available for potential buyers to view-both in the lounges at the Celebration, as well as online-courtesy of Digital Horse Services. This year, individuals interested in purchasing a horse but not able to attend the sale will have the opportunity to bid online. At the Reichert Celebration, there will be several social mixers and dinner parties that will be held near the yearling barn (Super Duty Arena) that will create opportunities for sellers and potential buyers to interact prior to the sale.

According to Amy Huntley, Director of Convention Sales & Marketing with the Tulsa Convention & Visitors Bureau, the “Reichert Celebration is a family-friendly event bringing in visitors from all over the United States to our great city.” These visitors include not only competitors and spectators, but also buyers.

Although the high energy events and competitions that characterize the Celebration draw many of these people, the Tulsa area attractions also help draw people to the event. Ms. Huntley said “Besides the hospitality we’re known for, the Tulsa region offers a number of events, activities and attractions to provide a variety of experiences in one easy to navigate area. Whether attendees are looking for a new restaurant to try, shopping center to visit or attraction to see in between shows, Tulsa has it. We encourage attendees to check out all the hidden treasures in Tulsa online at www.visittulsa.com, and begin planning their trip to the Tulsa region.”
