The American Quarter Horse Journal, May 22, 2012 – The National Pedigreed Livestock Council, which represents an organization of executive officers of the various nonprofit breed associations of dairy, horse and pony, sheep, goat, swine and beef species, held its annual meeting May 7-9 at the American Quarter Horse Association headquarters in Amarillo, Texas.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the executive officers of different species and breed groups to exchange ideas and learn from one another different techniques for fulfilling the individual association’s objectives. NPLC members enjoyed some Texas hospitality, Amarillo’s great weather and toured AQHA’s offices, as well as local feed yards and an ethanol plant. It was an excellent exchange of ideas among attendees.
During its regular business meeting, NPLC members elected their 2012-2013 officers: President Dan Meihak, Holstein USA; Vice President Don Treadway, AQHA; Secretary/Treasurer Zane Akins; and board members, Bert Moore, American Shorthorn Association; Steve Taylor, Appaloosa Horse Club Inc.; Craig Huffhines, American Hereford Association; Darrell Anderson, National Swine Registry (retired); and Aron Weir, Maxxam Analytics.
During its annual recognition dinner, NPLC presented distinguished service awards to Irma Robertson, executive director, Quality Assurance, Holstein USA; and Carol Rose, AQHA Professional Horseman, breeder, owner and board member. NPLC also recognized Darrell Anderson, retired CEO of the National Swine Registry with its honorary lifetime award.
The Arabian Horse Association will host the 2013 annual meeting in either Denver or Lexington, Kentucky.
