Four AQHA shows were packed into the May 1-3 weekend in Folsom at the Louisiana Quarter Horse Association’s Crawfish Classic. As whimsical as the show sounds, it really was a hotspot of intense competition, with circuit winners awarded for every class.

Will Knabenshue, Jason Smith, Chris Jones and Curtis Reynolds were on hand to judge, and one of the major draws was the $200 all-inclusive fee for open and amateur competitors, while youth enjoyed the $100 rate. To sweeten the pot, the show was also approved by the Mississippi and North West Florida Quarter Horse associations.

Since the show coincided with the 141st running of the Kentucky Derby, a definite Crawfish Classic highlight was the Kentucky Derby walk-trot class, which saw Aulyssa Wiggins as the youth champion, winning $75, and Tara Schmidt as the amateur champion, also winning $75.
