Bruce at World CupOmaha, NE was home to the 2017 FEI World Cup Finals March 29-April 2. In addition to world class competition in both dressage and jumping, the Omaha Equestrian Foundation brought education, entertainment and social events to an international stage. Lynn Palm brought Western Dressage to the forefront with freestyle exhibitions and educational clinics.

During the highly anticipated Dressage Showcase, Palm and American Quarter Horse Hot N Royal performed Level 1 maneuvers to a medley of western-themed classical music. Hot N Royal, a 9 year old gelding owned by Adelaide Pickett of Crystal River, FL, impressed the crowd with his elegance and classical movement all in western tack and attire.

Then, Palm returned to the Main Arena for a second freestyle with her partner Rugged Painted Lark. At 20 years old, American Paint Horse Rugged Painted Lark owned by Palm and Heidi Burkhalter stunned with an array of advanced movements including half pass at jog and lope, canter pirouettes and flying lead changes. In more ranch themed tack and attire, Lynn and Bruce, as he is affectionately known, showed their skills one handed using romel reins, a staple in western tradition.

While spreading the message of sound horsemanship, Palm emphasized that classical dressage principles are beneficial for every horse and rider and every discipline, including all breeds of horses performing in western dressage.

Palm’s mission was to showcase willing and balanced horses in their performances, mission accomplished.

For those who were unable to attend, the recorded performances have been uploaded to Palm’s youtube channel as well as the Palm Partnership Training Facebook page. The video posts have reached nearly 200,000 since the event with comments from all over the globe in support of Western Dressage.
